H. Home Again, Home Again

A-Z Challenge: Our 30 day mission: to bring you a tasty boat life tidbit of the day, washed down with a shot of snarky slang. Boat.Life.Larks.

The best part of my day is walking down the dock to Independence. If Matt and Hastings are already home, Hastings is posted at his lookout station on the bow, waiting for me, wagging his little tail. Home again, home again, jiggety jig.

Nothing beats the peace and joy I feel at home, and it’s what makes travel by boat so wonderful; you can see the world and be home every night.

But let’s not leave this on a pretty picture of domestic bliss! After the wine and the cheese and watching of the sunset, it’s time for a family constitutional.

Hastings, who up until this point has been an angel, smells something in the bushes. He lunges and suddenly is in possession of a dead, stinking fish.

You better drop that this instance or I’ll have your guts for garters! I threaten (in a low voice so as not to alert the neighbors to our family drama). Matt adds, Hastings, Mom’s the head honcho and she’s having a hissy fit. If you don't comply, it's curtains for you!

He holds on for grim death to his prize until we reach the boat. He's excited about the next stage of his evil plot: dragging it all over our white duvet. Lucky for the head honchos, he can't get onto the boat without assistance. An exchange is made for chicken jerky and all is well.

Hiya! Good walk? Our neighbors ask. Lovely! Hastings is such a good boy!

Home again, home again, jiggety jig.
