A-Z Challenge Theme Reveal

A-Z: Our 30 day mission: to bring you a tasty boat life tidbit of the day, washed down with a shot of snarky slang. Boat.Life.Larks.

We’re pleased as punch that you’ve popped over! Would you Adam and Eve that these three nutters (Lucy, Matt and Hastings) live on their 38 ft sailboat? Are we bonkers? In May, we’ll be chucking our fab jobs overboard and sailing off into the sunset on a 5 year voyage. But in April, you can check in every day (except Sundays) to get your fill of boaty fun and increase your British vocabulary from All fur coat and no knickers to Zed. Now, shall I be mother?

Today's Dictionary

Pleased as punch = very happy
Popped over = stop by (Pop up to the grocery store)
Adam and Eve = believe (Rhyming slang)
Nutters = crazy people
Bonkers = crazy (We obviously have a lot of crazy people in the UK and need a lot of descriptions for them)
Chucking = getting rid of
Fab = fabulous!
Shall I be mother = Shall I pour your cuppa
Cuppa = cup of tea. Approximately 35 cups of tea a day are needed to keep a Brit going. This is served hot with cream and sugar. Most Brits drink tea instead of coffee.

tea and kisses at sunset from our Lagoon 380 sail catamaran
We also drink tea instead of sundowners! TEA!

  5. Oooh, this is cool! I sail (on a lake, not on seas and oceans) and I do love everything that has to do with boats. And I am looking forward to finding out what it is about the fur coats... :D

  6. This is great! Not only are we (my husband and I) cruisers/liveaboards, we're dog lovers (our pup was a sea dog for 15 or her 18 years) and he's (that's my husband, David) a Brit. There's no doubt that even after 17 years together that I still could use a vocabulary lesson or two. Cheers!
